2006 30 Year Reunion
The reunion is over, and the committee would like to thank everyone who attended, whether it was for golf or the Saturday night get-together. The turn-out was better than expected, we had classmates travel from 7 states, which says a few things about our class: Some of us know how to come home, no matter where we are, and the rest don’t (know how to come home). One thing is certain about the people that came, they all seemed happy to be back with their old friends - raising a little Hale! And the 17 classmates who were brave enough to move away from Tulsa said they’d come back for the next one! Make sure and check out the pictures at the website, you will see that no one has changed at all.
For those unfortunate few who could not attend, here are a few of the more interesting items you missed:
Someone noted that in 1976, both Kiss and the Cars performed their first concert. (not together) Several people commented the last kiss they remember was in a car in 1976.
The song “Love Will Keep Us Together” won the Grammy in 1976. A perfect theme song for our class. We must also note that the Oscar for Best Picture in 1976 went to “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”.
Larry Arnold won the First Annual Mr. Clean Look-a-Like contest.
Someone wondered if being the 1976 Bicentennial Boy (aka Outstanding Senior of the Year) meant you had to bring 2 ex-wives to the reunion.
Everyone, (as far as we know) was able to make it up and down the stairs.
We won’t ever run out of name-tags again
Contact Lost and Found if you are missing any of the following:
3 bottles labeled ‘Botox’ 20 bottles little blue pills 20 baggies of parsley or cilantro 4 -1/2 pair of support hose 3 hearing aids 3 pair tweezers 5 arch/heel supports 2 front teeth
Note to all the young and firm people who came upstairs after 11:00 (when it opened to general public): We understand your looks of bewilderment and surprise. Yes, we do look beautiful after 30 years, and yes, we can look this good and still be Hale-Raisers! Bicentennial does not mean we helped draft the Declaration of Independence. We were just examples of spirited individuals in 1976 (all female class officers, first class to put Christmas tree in lobby (wouldn’t happen now-are we going backerds?), first class to perform a melodrama for senior play (‘Dirty Work at the Crossroads’), and a most EXCELLENT yearbook (except the print is so small…..) The list goes on and on! We hope all your memories of high school AND of this reunion are good ones. Write them down so you don’t forget! And don’t forget to write us when you move or change e-mails!
Let us know your suggestions, and then remind us before the next reunion what they were! Until we meet again!
